Prof. Luciano Nardo is a Consultant in Reproductive Medicine & Infertility in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Medcare Women & Children Hospital. He obtained his MD from the University of Catania, Italy and an FMH registration from the Federal Office of Public Health in Switzerland. He is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG), UK, has done a subspecialty in Reproductive Medicine & Surgery and a Certification in Laparoscopic Surgery from the RCOG, UK and a BFS Certification in Pelvic Ultrasound, also from the UK. He is a member of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the Mediterranean Society for Reproductive Medicine (MSRM).
During the nascency of his illustrious career, Prof. Nardo worked at St Mary's Hospital, part of the Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, UK, as a Consultant in Gynaecology and a Specialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery. Later, he became self-employed as a consultant gynaecologist with a subspeciality in reproductive medicine. He also served as a Consultant Gynaecologist and CEO at Reproductive Health Group at Warrington and as a Consultant in Gynaecology, Reproductive Medicine & Infertility at the Phoenix Hospital Group, both in the UK. He founded GyneHealth, a comprehensive women's health service operating in the private sector in the UK and is a former visiting Professor, Faculty of Science, School of Healthcare Science, Manchester Metropolitan University, UK and visiting Professor at the Master’s Programme in Biology and Biotechnology of Reproduction, University of Catania, Italy. He has the distinction of being the Founder & President of NOW-fertility SA, Switzerland. Subsequently, he moved to the UAE to join IVF International, affiliated to the NOW-fertility clinic as a Managing Director. He also served as a Consultant in Reproductive Medicine & Infertility at Bourn Hall Fertility Clinic, Dubai. He currently holds an active license to practice in Dubai (UAE), London (UK), Milan (Italy) and Lugano (Switzerland).
Prof. Nardo served as HFEA Person Responsible and CQC Registered Manager of private fertility and women’s health organisations in the UK. He also served as a member of the executive committee for the British Fertility Society and the International Federation of Fertility Societies. He is a former member of the editorial board of Reproductive Biomedicine Online.
Prof. Nardo has over two decades of clinical practice and academic focus in assisted conception, female and male infertility, reproductive endocrinology, miscarriage and all aspects of benign gynaecology. He has tremendous knowledge and practical skills in general endocrinology, reproductive endocrinology, reproductive immunology, reproductive medicine, infertility, fertility preservation, assisted conception, clinical genetics, recurrent miscarriage, early pregnancy management, general gynaecology and andrology. He has specific interests in the management of women with decreased ovarian function, repeated embryo implantation failures, fertility preservation/egg freezing and unexplained infertility. His expertise extends to minimal access surgery, including laparoscopic and hysteroscopic procedures in the area of reproductive surgery for the management of fallopian tube disease, ovarian cysts, fibroids, adenomyosis, uterine abnormalities, intrauterine and pelvic adhesions, endometrial polyps, endometriosis, and Caesarean section scar defect. He has extensive experience in performing transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound scans as part of a one-stop clinical assessment to investigate conditions associated with infertility, gynaecology and recurrent miscarriage. Prof. Nardo has published more than 120 peer-reviewed papers, and delivered over 700 lectures internationally on various topics in assisted conception technologies, individualisation of ovarian stimulation protocols, pre-implantation genetic testing, reproductive surgery and gynaecology and has authored over 110 peer-reviewed papers, 23 book chapters and delivered approximately 600 lectures nationally and internationally.
Despite having a busy work schedule, Prof. Nardo makes time for his favourite sports like yachting, playing Tennis and Padel, and Skiing. He enjoys listening to Jazz music and is a connoisseur of fine dining. He speaks English and Italian.
